About Us - Bown Design & Build

About Us

There’s no doubt that people often enter building projects with a real sense of trepidation.  When Alistair Bown established Bown Design & Build, he had one goal, and that was to turn the negative stereotype of the building industry on its head.

While our primary concern is the quality of the finished project, what stands Bown Design & Build apart from its competitors is our focus on customer service. From day one we’ll guide you through the complexities of the build by offering expert advice, constant communication and genuine enthusiasm for the job, so changing the look of your home becomes an enjoyable experience rather than a stressful one.

We’re so proud of our success to date, which has been purely from clients recommending their family and friends and repeat business. People appreciate being placed at the centre of the process. Right from the moment Alistair supplies you with a quote, he’ll be on hand to answer any of your queries, offer advice and keep you fully informed about what’s happening inside your home. While it’s his job to ensure that the project is being successfully managed, he will never make an important decision without discussing it with you first or offering an alternative. Alistair’s job is to guide you through every aspect of the build, making it an easy and pleasant process that he’s in control of, but you feel involved in.

Everything we do is carried out by our own team of workmen, which ensures the quality of workmanship complies with our rigorous finishing standards. Any aspect of the build that requires specialists, such as plumbing, electrics and gas, is sub-contracted to specific local independent companies that we’ve built strong links with, so you can be assured that every aspect of the build is certified and completed to the highest standards. All of our sites are also covered by fully comprehensive contract works and public liability insurance.

Bown and Msaada

Bown Design & Build also have a special link “Msaada”, a UK charity that helps Rwandan families to restore their livelihoods by providing them with self-help income-generating projects. Alistair’s fundraising efforts follow from his father, Malcolm, who died shortly after raising £12,000 for the charity by cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats.
